To be eligible for this course, prospective students must be at least 18 years of age.

All applicants are required to successfully complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) assessment, along with a pre-training review/interview. This process, also referred to as an Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN), is conducted to ensure the course is suitable and aligned with the individual’s skills, experience, and learning needs.

The pre-training review helps identify the applicant’s existing knowledge, capabilities, and any support requirements to ensure they are set up for success throughout the course.

 

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:

  • 19 units of competency:

    • 11 core units

    • 8 elective units.

To achieve the occupational outcome of Builder electives must include:

  • All Group A elective units

  • Up to two elective units from either Group B or general electives.

  • One elective unit may be from any training package or accredited course as long as it ensures the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contributes to a valid, industry supported vocational outcome

To achieve the occupation outcome of Site Manager electives must include:

  • All Group B electives

  • Up to four elective units from either Group A or general electives.

  • One unit may be from any training package or accredited course as long as it ensures the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contributes to a valid, industry supported vocational outcome

Class Delivery and Learning Expectations

Classes are conducted once per week, offering a well-balanced mix of practical and theoretical learning. Each session is designed to accommodate diverse learning styles while supporting the development of the skills and knowledge required for successful course completion.

Practical workplace scenarios will be regularly simulated to assess your skills in line with the requirements of each unit.

In addition to attending classes, students are expected to commit to independent study each week, including:

  • Up to 7 hours of self-directed learning, such as revision, research, and engagement with course materials.
  • Up to 7 hours dedicated to assignment preparation, including completing assessments, reviewing feedback, and gathering evidence of competency.

Homework tasks may involve research activities, textbook readings, and ongoing work on assessments. All necessary learning resources will be provided at the start of each unit.

Students completing all assessment requirements will be awarded CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction.

Students completing assessment requirements for part of CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction, will be awarded a statement of attainment indicating which modules or units of competency they have completed.  Awards will not be made to students who have not met all their financial commitments to Fran capelli Academy.
